Repeat vs Repost

New Year's Eve--the perfect time to clarify this confusing MCL issue: What do the terms "repeat" and "repost" mean? The first is just what it says--the uploading of stuff already posted to the site (often, perhaps), acquired from the same sort of place (some "tube" or other) earlier poster(s) used. Having taken it from a common source, none of the posters has any personal claim on it--beyond the matter of who posted it first, perhaps. A "repost," on the other hand, is something quite different--A BIG DEAL, actually--because, there, the poster willfully re-uploads something a fellow member DOES HAVE a legitimate "claim" on. Take this Steve Prior/Rick Hunter scene I'm now posting. Choosing it from a DVD I own, I prepared it expressly for MCL by (1) re-recording it on WMCapture in real-time, converting it from VOB to wmv format in order to edit it on MovieMaker, (2) using Pazera to extract the music track for later re-attachment to the clip, (3) stripping the re-recording of the original soundtrack (4) putting it through MM in order to edit it down--from 18 minutes to just under 8--using appropriate transitional effects for a fluent montage, (5) re-attaching the music track to smooth things over (6) 'publishing' the finished product in such a way as it keep it under 200 MB, while preserving as much image clarity as possible. (7) writing an interesting intro to the edited clip & uploading it to share with all of you. So, how do you suppose it feels when someone, after downloading it from here, puts it up as his own post--probably not even naming the performers, and, most certainly, not identifying whose editing job it actually is? And, then, when politely pointing out this lapse, being dissed with "In what way is it 'yours'? You stole it, didn't you?" or "Who cares if it's a repeat. It's good! Newbies missed seeing it" or (my personal fave): "Oh, Mary, get a life!" That's why, as we start a new year, I hope you'll think a bit about the whole issue. Happy 2015!
