11gtea's April Fool's Day post reminds me of a famous moment in advertising history--2006, when an Italian company called Amica Chips got Rocco Siffredi to do a TV spot extolling the superiority of their product. (The Italian word for potato chip, 'patatina' also happens to be one of the many slang words for 'pussy.') The ensuing brouhaha is pretty well described in this clip--along with the original (and revised) versions of the spot. It's a delightful tale. All I can say is "Evviva Rocco"--and "Only in Italy!"

Rocco is a much-loved celeb in Italy. A year or so after this, when Berlusconi was running for PM yet again, someone started a campaign running R against him. They had bumper-stickers: "Berlusconi's getting tired. Let Rocco fuck you up the ass for a change."
